Ephesians 4 - Daily Summary

Hello! Ephesians 4 is the third last chapter in the book of Ephesians. Before we discuss the fourth chapter of the letter of Ephesians, let's have a quick revision of the topic we discussed yesterday - that being Ephesians 3. Ephesians 3 has two portions: "God's Marvelous Plan for the Gentiles" and "A Prayer for the Ephesians". God has a marvelous plan for the Gentiles. He will unite Jews and Gentiles in Christ and rebeal to the Gentiles the mystery of Christ and received His grace. Paul prays for the Ephesians in 3:14-21. In the twenty first and last verse of Ephesians 3 there is a closing to the prayer. Now in Ephesians 4 it speaks a bout unity abd maturity in the body of Christ. As prisoners and sevants of the Lord, we must live worthy of our calling. Be humble, patient, and loving, and keep every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit. The Spirit bonds the believers with one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father, who is almighty. So we should...

Ephesians 3 - Daily Summary

Hello! Let's do a recap of Ephesians 2 before we study Ephesians 3. Ephesians 2 ends off by saying we are united and built together and no longer foreignors to one another (to other Christians). We are being built as a building to become a Holy Temple of the Lord [a]. And certainly Gentiles will be included in the Holy Temple. God has a plan for the Gentiles. A marvelous plan He has. So in Ephesians 3 Paul deepens what he said in Ephesians 2. God gave His grace to us and reading His Word will let us understand the mystery of Christ. Gentiles and Jews are members of one body. God gave Paul grace to preach the Gentiles about Christ and show His administration. God's intent was through the church his wisdom would be known to the "rulers and authorities in the "heavenly realms"". Through faith and Christ Jesus we can approach God with freedom and confiedence. Paul prays for the Ephesians in verses 14-20. We should pray for one another [b] just like Paul did to ...

Ephesians 2 - Daily Summary

Hello! Yesterday we left off in Ephesians 1 and we will continue discussing the book of Ephesians today with Ephesians 2. Paul's letters are often interconnected and we can have a better understanding when we read it in harmony, so let's do a review of Ephesians 1: Ephesians 1 comprises of a greeting, praise for Christ's uniting grace that God has lavished on us. We were chosen and predestined to praise of His glory and so we may believe the gospel of salvation and receive the promised Holy Spirit. Ephesians 2 talks about thanksgiving to one another and praying for one another. God appointed Jesus to be head of the church. Ephesians 2 now speaks about us. We were dead in sin and we used to live in a worldly way and pursued desires of the flesh. But the merciful God made us alive with Christ and He raised us up and seated us with Christ Jesus. It is by this grace we are saved and our good deeds are through His mercy [a]. So we may not boast. The audience of the book are Gen...

Ephesians 1 - Daily Summary

Hello!  T he book of Ephesians is the fifth epistle (fourth if you count 1&2 Corinthians as the same book) and was sent to the church of Ephesus. Ephesus is a famous ancient city of relative importance. Located on the coast in modern day Turkey, Paul visited the city several times. Here's an introduction of the book of Ephesians. -------------------------------| Ephesians Book Information Testament: New To: the Church in Ephesus From: Paul Chapter Count: 6 Themes: God's Purpose, Christ the Center, Living Church, New Family, Christian Conduct Information about Ephesus: Ephesus was a city in modern day Turkey home to the Ephesians (Ionian Greeks). The church there were established by Paul when he  preached there during his missionary journeys.  |-------------------------------| Its first chapter comprises of a greeting (verse 1 and 2) [a], typical of the epistles. Then in the following verses there is praise to God for God chose us before the creation of the world...

Galatians 6 - Daily Summary

Hello! Galatians 6 is a very popular chapter and also the last chapter in the 6-chapter long book of  the letter sent to the Galatians. The chapter's first ten verses is about doing good to all. We already covered the verse two verses in more detail in one of our Saturday devotions.  The first two verses quickly summarized says we must rebuke one another but with gentleness, and also watch ourselves. So we should both remind others and also look after ourselves and guard ourselves of temptation. We should carry each others burdens and love one another as Christ has proclaimed. [a] Those were the first two verses. If you want more meticulous explanation on these verses, I have a post about that. Galatians 6:3 warns us from boasting. We should not think we are something berter than we are. We should test our actions and cannot compare to others (Gal 6:4).  Galatians 6 tells us a man reaps what he sows: whoever who sows fleshly pleasures will trap destruction nut we sh...

Weekly Sunday Sermon - The Faith of Abraham

Hello! Genesis 12 is the first chapter of the second division of the book of Genesis. That might seem overwhelming, so lets break that statement down. Genesis can be divided into two big parts: Genesis 1 through 11 and Genesis 12 until 50.  The first part we have discussed in the past few weeks and there are some repetitive ideas. There is a contrast between godly and ungodly people in the first eleven chapters. There are ungodly people (Cain, Ham, builders of Babel) and godly people (Abel, Seth, Noah).  There is also a repetition of disobedience in these eleven chapters. People disobey, going further from God and disobeying His command to spread out. A pattern found is they always go east. These verses are the proof of the eastwardness of Genesis 1-11: After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side  of the Garden of Eden  cherubim  and a flaming sword  flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life. Genesis 3:24 So Cain went ou...

Galatians 5 - Daily Summary

Hello! Summary: As Christians, we are free in Christ, not bound in Him. Christ has set us free from the strong and oppressive yoke sin. We have sinned and circumcision does not help us nor obedience of the law. But Jesus set us free. [a] We were called to be free and our freedom should be used to serve one another in love [bj. We must love one another and live by the Spirit. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control.  But we should not have hatred, idolatry, envy, and drunkenness, among other sins. Use your freedom for the good - to live by the Spirit and not gratify fleshly/worldly desires. We must use something given to us well. Cross Biblical links [a] 1 Peter 2:16 [b] John 13:34-35

Galatians 4 - Daily Summary

Hello! Galatians 4 continues the previous chapter's point, so let's revise yesterday first. Galatians 3 tells us that one who belongs to Christ is a descendsnt of Abraham, and all of the believers, Gentiles of Jews, are united in Christ. Galatians 4 says that all believers, rich and poor, are the same to God and God has made us an heir no matter of our background. From verse 8-20 Paul discusses about his concern for the Galatians. Paul says the Galatians were slaves to the gods they used to worship but now is God's child. Paul also wants the Galatians to be zealous but not to be zealous for the wrong purpose, because some are zealous to win them over.  Paul then says from verse 21 to 31 that the followers of God reminisce with the story of Hagar and Sarah. Abraham had two main sons, one born of a slave woman and one of a free woman. The two women figuratively represent two covenants. But those who are in Christ are like children of promise - like Isaac in the metaphor.

Saturday Devotion: Acts 7:22 and Proverbs 16:3

Hello! Read Acts 7:22: Moses  was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and he was mighty in his words and deeds. Acts 7:22 and Proverbs 16:3: Commit to the  Lord  whatever you do,      and he will establish your plans. These two verses might feel distant and devoid of connection, link, and combination, but there is some meaning behind this. Also read Acts 7:34: 34  I (God) have indeed seen the oppression of my people in Egypt. I have heard their groaning and have come down to set them free. Now come, I will send you (Moses) back to Egypt. The two verses might still feel distant even after reading another verse (that being Acts 7:34 ). Moses was well educated in all the wisdom of Egypt. He commited his time on learning and being educated and nourished with said wisdom and knowledge. But only a dozen verses later in Acts 7:34 God calls him when he is in the wilderness. In the wilderness, he is tending the flocks and it seems like al...

Galatians 3 - Daily Summary

Hello! Galatians 3 first talks about justification. The Galatians have misinterpreted the idea of justification. We are saved and receive the Holy Spirit by God's grace, our faith, and Jesus' crucifixion our own works like fulfilling and following the law.  All nations can get salvation if they have faith in God. The righteous are the faithful [1] and it is by faith we receive the Holy Spirit. But the law is not useless. It does not oppose the promise of God and righteousness can come from the law. But before faith, the law was our guardian. The law is our guardian only until Christ came, and when Christ came, we are justified by faith and we are free from guardianship. We are all children of God through faith. If we belong to Christ, we are Abraham's descendant. [3] Cross Biblical References [1] 2 Corinthians 5:21 [2] Habakkuk 2:4 [3] Romans 4:16

Galatians 2 - Daily Summary

Hello! Galatians 2 is Paul's story after his conversion. He went to Jerusalem and then met with several other leaders. He said he would preach to the Gentiles and spoke privately because there were false believers who were spying them and transgressing the freedom they had in Christ.  Paul saud God does not show favoritism [1] (verse 6), and he wanted to preach the true gospel  to the uncircumcised. God does not show favoritism to the circumcised [2] nor sets aside the uncircumcised. The second part of the story was Paul's opposition to Cephas (Peter). Peter began to be hyporcritical and discriminate the Gentiles. Paul rebuked Peter because he was not acting in the line with the truth of the gospel, and he was forcibly spreading Jewish customs and traditions. We are justified by faith in Jesus, not works of the law. We are justified by faith in Christ Jesus and His grace. We should "die to the law" to live for God. What this means is the law doesn't save us and  ...

Galatians 1 - Daily Summary

Hello! Yesterday we finished off 2 Corinthians and we are currently in progress of completing the next book of the Bible - another of the epistles by Paul - Galatians. Like we have done usually, we will have a book introduction before moving on. The book introduction includes several additions, such as: * Information about central themes * Information about the respective church it was for. |-------------------------------| Galatians  Book Information Testament: New To: the Churches in Galatia From: Paul Chapter Count: 6 Themes: Justification, Law and Grace, Freedom in Christ Information about Galatia: Galatia was a land in modern day Anatolia home to the Galatians that migrated there. The churches there were established by around AD 47 or 48 when Paul preached there during his missionary journeys. |-------------------------------| Galatians 1 is the first chapter in the book of Galatians. The first five verses of the book of Galatians are the greetings common and present in ...

2 Corinthians 13 - Daily Summary

Hello! Second Corinthians 13 is Paul's final warnings and greetings before ending the chapter. This is both the last chapter of 2 Corinthians and both the Corinthians books. Paul is about to make a third visit to Corinth and He warns the Corinthians to, while he is away, repent and to test their faiths.  Paul wants them to see if Christ Jesus is really in their hearts. And so should we examine our hearts. We should pray for others and ourselves so they and we pass the tests of faith. He wants to give these warnings so He would not need to harshly rebuke the church there again, The final four verses are final greetings and the closing of the chapter, and the book of Second Corinthians. Paul urges them to strive for a full restoration, to encourage and support one another (as a church is a community) and to live in peace.

2 Corinthians 12 - Daily Summary

Hello! Paul continues his boast in 2 Corinthians 12. Though he says boasting is foolish, he wants to elaborate that he is not inferior to the false teachers and apostles that claim to be super apostles. Paul boasts that he is persecuted, in diffuculty, and in weakness but Paul delights in it for Christ's sake. He had a thorn on his skin which tormented Him. He says he is also sinful and "nothing", but not worse than the supposed  'super apostles" and other people who claim to be things they aren't. The same is to be applied for today. We are to examine and to not fall into anything unbiblical.  Paul expeesses his concern in the final ten verses, wishing the Corinthian church would not return to impurity, sedual sin, and debauchery as well as discord, ambition, gossip, and chaos. We must not have these in our church communities.

Weekly Sunday Sermon - Genesis 11: The Tower of Babel

Hello! Last week we saw how Noah was saved for God favored Him and He trusted and obeyed God.  He had three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth, and they multiplied (see Genesis 10). Let's see if Noah's descendants can keep God's law. In Genesis 11, we see humanity working together for what is wicked. First, they disobeyed God already in the second verse. God told them to spread but rather the entire world moved eastward and stopped instesd of spreading outward. They settled in a place called Shinar. They had the same language and they decided to make a  tall tower. They did not do this for anything but themselves and it is their pride that makes them want to construct such a tower. They want to make a  name for themselves (Genssis 11:4).  The Lord is Holy and must stop that activity and He acts. He confuses their language and the workers stop and were scattered. We learn God is Holy and Just (he stops the activity) but also Merciful (He did not wipe them away). We al...

2 Corinthians 11 - Daily Summary

Source: BibleGateway.com  Second Corinthians 11 speaks about something repeated multiple times throughout the Bible, especially in the New Testament: false teachers. Paul warns Corinth just how Peter warned about it and how John has called it. Paul tells us not to be tempted or always so compliant when listening to "apostles" or "teachers". For some false teachers twist the truth and say they are "super-apostles" (2 Corinthians 11:5). Not everybody is truthful, and humans lie. They teach a different gospel, a false gospel. Do not be deceived by these people's cunning (2 Corinthians 11:3).  2 Corinthians 11:16-33 is a "boast" by Paul. Paul says that boasting is foolish but he wants to make himself an example for the readers, and us. He has been perscuted multiple times and in danger many times. This "boast" invites us to also be a hardworking servant of God. It also is a way to examine if someone is a false teacher or not - you can e...

Weekly Saturday Devotion - Ephesians 6:10-20

Hello! Today's topic is about Ephesians 6:10-20 about the "armour of God".  These verses tells us to be strong in the Lord. This means we figuratively, and not literally, "put on the full armor of God" to resist temptation or the "devil's schemes". We use this "armor" to resist and fight temptation and the "powers of the dark world" (Ephesians 6:12). Paul attributes the armorpieces into qualities we need to resist and repulse temptation. The full armor is an armor of truth (belt), righteousness (breastplate), readiness from the gospel (footwear), faith (shield), salvation (helmet) and the Word of God (sword). And if you pay more attention you can see how the armorpieces can have some connection with said quality. Helmets can save us in times of trouble. When we fall, it mitigates damage. And "salvation" is about being saved.  We should also pray in the Spirit "on all occasions" and "with all kinds of pra...

2 Corinthians 9&10 - Daily Summary

Hello! Sorry that yesterday I have forgotten to write the daily blog so I will make it twice: 2 Corinthians 9 is about generosity. The first five verses we should be eager to help and be active in helping one another. We should serve as a person of the Lord. We should be giving and generous: something encouraged in the rest of the chapter's verses. The second portion of Second Corinthians 9 says that the generous are right and will be blessed. But when being "generous", our generosity must not be a forced generosity but a desired generosity. Give what your heart decides to give. God is a generous God - He has given us a wonderful gift of grace. Thank Him!  2 Corinthians 10 is a wish of Paul's, hoping the Church in Corinth would live in a godly way and take every thought captive to make ourselves obedient to Christ. Repent from disobedience and do not boast but be humble. Do not compare yourself with anyone else. But you can boast in the Lord though we confine our boa...

2 Corinthians 8 - Daily Summary

Hello! 2 Corinthians 8 first talks about the zeal of the Macedonian churches (the churches in the province of Macedonia) because they were generous to collect a collection of money (see 1 Corinthians 16) though they were being presserured by persecution and hardship.  Paul wants and encourages the Corinthian churches to have the same generosity and wants to hear they have received even more grace of God. What we can also learn is that the Bible's many books are not wholly separate but also has connection. If you were to read 2 Corinthians 8, it would be much clearer by reading 1 Corinthians 16. Paul wants and asks them to be generous  not as a command but as a test of Corinthian wholeheartedness and sincerity. He wants to see their eagerness and their desire. Paul announces that the zealous Titus would receive their collection and distribute it.

2 Corinthians 7 - Daily Summary

Hello! 2 Corinthians 7 is mosttly about Paul's joy of the Church's repentance but also the first verse is still about how we should reject idolatry. We should purify ourselves of any contamination that defiles us to be Holy and to revere God.  The other fifteen verses is Paul's joy over the church's repentance. Paul emphasizes his previous letter, 1 Corinthians, was only a rebuke, not trying to discourage them. But Paul is happy the Corinthians repented and were sorry of their sin. Paul, as well as a companion Titus, is very joyful. Repent! That's all, thanks!

2 Corinthians 6 - Daily Summary

Hello! In this chapter there are three themes of topic: Ministry of Reconciliation, Paul's Hardships, and Warning Against Idolatry. The first of which continues the last chapter. It tells us we must not receive God's grace in vain. When Paul says this, he refers to the himself as "a co worker" in God. Paul tells us and them to receive God's grace since now is the "day of salvation". The next part us about how Paul has went through hardships such as persecution, physical attacks, and poverty. However, we should have endurance and remember that what we will receive is much greater than our current troubles.  He also warns against idolatry. We should not communicate or be with unbelievers too much. We are the temple of the living God, do not have other gods. In our time, we may not bow down to a statue, but there can be other forms of idolatry, such as doing something (gaming, shopping, etc) too much that it becomes an "idol".

2 Corinthians 5 - Daily Summary

Hello! In 2 Corinthians 5 it introduces an earthly tent and an eternal house. In our earthly tent we groan for heavenly clothing and in this tent we  have burdens and troubles. We wish to be clothed with heavenly dwelling, and have non mortal life. God has guaranteed us the eternal house in Heaven and given us the Holy Spirit.  We must live by faith rather than sight and we would prefer to be in our eternal house with the Lord. So we should please Him, for God is just and will give appropriate punishment according to all the things we done when we are in our worldly body. The second part of the chapter tells us to fear the Lord and persuade others to. We must not regard Christ nor one another in a worldly view. Those in Christ are a new creation and they are Christ's a,bassadors to reconcile with Him.

Weekly Sunday Sermon - 13 October: Noah

Hello! Today I learned about some of the lessons from the story of Noah and the Ark (Genesis 6 up to Genesis 9). We'll go through it in a point way. 1. God shown favor to Noah. In Genesis 6 we know the world was wicked and people were. God is Holy and cannot stand evil. He decided to send a flood to wipe out the human race, but one man and his family found favor: Noah. Favor is actually more "grace" and "mercy. Noah was also sinful. But what made him different? 2. Noah was trusting. What made him different? The answer is, that Noah was righteous and he trusted God. How do we know he trusted in God? Now imagine this: you are a man living in a world where there has never been rain that poured on the earth. And you are asked to build a huge "boat". People laugh at you, thinking you're insane.  But Noah trusted and remained faithful. His trust made him different. He was also righteous. When God told him of the flood, he shared that knowledge to others. In ...

2 Corinthians 4 - Daily Summary

Hello!  Today's chapter (2 Corinthians 4) is about our weakness currently and our life and ressurection. It first says, that, through God's mercy, we have ministry, so we cannot lose heart. We should not distort the word of God when spreading the gospel. Do not veil the gospel but unveil it and preach it.  We might be persecuted or hard pressed, but when we are doing our (God's) ministry, we are not completely destroyed or abandoned. We carry in our body the death of Jesus, and the life of Jesus is also revealed in our body.  God will also raise us from the dead and present us to Him. Do not lose heart. Outwardly we might be wasted away or rejected, but inwardly, we are renewed every day. Our temporary troubles does not compare eternal glory.

Psalms 44 - Saturday Devotion

Hello! Look at Psalms 44:26: 26  Rise up and help us;      rescue us because of your unfailing love. Let's understand the situation of Psalms 44 as a whole first. It is more of a "sad"psalm, about the sons of Korah's complaint and dissappointment. However, there is a comfort in the last verse. And if we read this verse christocentrically, we can relate this to Christ. As sinners, we in a dark situation. We are captives of sin. But this last verse is a petition for a rescue: a rescue because of God's unfailing love. Doesn't this sound like how God sent his son to this earth to rescue us because of his unfailing love? God has already came and rescued us. He has already risen and helped us. In this case, in Psalms 44 it says Israel is in a bad political situation. But we don't have to worry. Reflection Question: When you feel you're in a bad place, what is your comfort?

2 Corinthians 3 - Daily Summary

Hello! The first six verses of Second Corinthians' third chapter continues last chapter's topic. It says, as the "spreaders of the good aroma of Christ", we should be humble. Our competence and good will comes from God, not ourselves. We are a letter of Christ and the text is written with the Spirit of the living heart. So be humble, as the Spirit gives life. The second part of 2 Corinthians 3 is about the covenant. The Old Covenant of Israel was not as good as the new Covenant. Firstly, in the old covenant, if someone was to look at the face of Moses, he would die. This covenant can bring death, while the new covenant brings righteousness and wisdom.  Moses had to cover his face with veil so the Israelites could not see him. But in Christ, the veil is taken away, and those who turn to the Lord's veil is taken away. Those who have unveiled faces are going to be transformed with ever increasing glory and sanctified.

2 Corinthians 2 - Daily Summary

Hello! Here is today's summary on Second Corinthians 2: The first section of 2 Corinthians 2 continues last chapter's topic about Paul's change in plan. Paul made up his mind to not make another visit in the end, since he might be saddened by the wickedness there. Paul is loving to the church, so he is offended when he sees evil in the church.  Paul tells us to forgive, however, just right after in the topic "Forgiveness for the Offender.". It tells us to forgive and comfort those who caused grief, rather than making him sorrow. We must be forgiving, and be forgiving to everyone. We should love one another, including our enemies or those who cause grief to us.  The final verses of the chapter is about his missionary journeys through Anatolia and Greece. It tells an amazing analogy that evangelizing is like spreading the pleasing, saving aroma of Christ to others. But we must spread this "aroma" with sincerity. And that's all for today!

2 Corinthians 1 - Daily Summary

Hello! Today's topic is 2 Corinthians 1. Here is some information on the book first. |-------------------------------| 2 Corinthians Book Information Testament: New To: the Church in Corinth From: Paul, Timothy Chapter Count: 13 |-------------------------------| The first part of 2 Corinthians 1 is the greeting that is repeated throughout Paul's letters to the various churches. Paul actually written this letter with the help of Timothy ( see 2 Corinthians 1:1). There is also a benediction for grace and peace in the greeting. The second part encourages us to praise God who comforts us during our time of trouble and distress. We share some of the sufferings of Christ but our comfort also comes through Christ. If we are under stress, God can be our comfort and salvation. Paul had recently gotten into some trouble in Asia Minor snd almost killed, but he relied on God. Paul also tells of his change of plan, specifically of route. Before he said he would go to Corinth a second time ...

1 Corinthians 16 - Daily Summary

1 Corinthians 16 is the last chapter of the second book we covered in the Daily Epistle series.  1 Corinthians 16 is short. Its first topic is a four verse topic where Paul encourages the church of Corinth to set up collections of money every week until Paul comes back to Corinth. They are to collect sums of money from their income as a gift. Paul and some men will transmit those gifts of money to Jerusalem. We should also be generous and give. Paul goes on to give some of the personal requests of his. The first of which is a request to the Corinthians to support him on his missionary travels. He also requests the Corinthians to accept Timothy, a companion of Paul, well and without contempt. We should not treat others with contempt, but also differentiate them, to see whether what they say is valid or not. Another of Paul's requests is to stand firm in the faith, be loving, strong, and courageous. Paul closes his letter with a final greeting (or closing) just like all his oth...

1 Corinthians 15 - Daily Summary

Hello! The first part of 1 Corinthians 15 concerns Christ's death and resurrection. Paul emphasizes in verse 1 and 2 that he wants to remind the Corinthian church of the gospel he has already preached about, as by the gospel we are saved. He says that Christ died to cleanse us of our sin, buried, and res after three days, and appeared to many people. Then, He appeared to Paul later. Paul is humble and does not consider himself an apostle - for he had once persecuted God's church, but he works the hardest. But this hard work does not comes from Him but the grace of God with him. The second part also concerns a resurrection: a resurrection of the dead. Paul says that, if Christ has been raised from the dead, the dead can too, since Christ was dead. Also, if Christ was not raised up again, our faith is useless and we still are not saved from sin, but Christ was raised. This emphasizes the importance of the resurrection we sometimes oversee. Verse 21 and 22 says that death came th...

1 Corinthians 14 - Daily Summary

Hello! Today's post about First Corinthians 14 tells us to follow the way of love and desire the Holy Spirit's gifts. Furthermore, it tells us speaking in tongues is useless if we are speaking to one another - we cannot interpret, nor can they! So what is the use of speaking in tongues to one another? Speak intelligibly in worship so others may listen. Speaking in tongues is a sign to the unbeliever, believers should not use it to speak to one another. If unbelievers or those new to the church sees us doing  all this, they will think we are insane and strange. Thus, speaking in tongues to other believers is futile.   The second topic is about how service and worship should be orderly, not chaotic. It should be fitting, not inappropriate. One of the things we must do to keep things orderly is to only speak in tongues to the Lord, not to one another. Only two or three people at modt should speak in one time, andd other people must listen carefully and think, "Is this really ...

Weekly Sunday Sermon - Genesis 4: Godly and Ungodly People, Sinfulness, and Common Grace

Hello! This sunday I learned about Genesis 4. Let's cover several points: 1. Everybody is sinful. Everyone is sinful when they were born - and we all have a sinful nature. When Cain and Abel were born, even before they could commit any single sin, they were already sinful. Why? Because Adam sinned, and, since Adam was the representative of humanity, we all sin. When the leader makes a mistake, everyone under his or her leadership too faces the consequences of their leader's mistake. Sin is not only an action but a nature. 2. Common Grace In the story of Genesis 4, after the popular story of Cain  and Abel, Cain was banished. But in the next few  verses, there is the story of Cain and his descendants: Cain settles a city, his descendants practice music, tentmaking, and metalworking, and they are very succesful. How could these ungodly, wicked people have much success? God gives everybody, both the godly and ungodly, some common grace. 3. Ungodly and Godly people But commo...

Weekly Devotion - 5 October

Hello! Today's topic is revolving around Matthew 5:3-10.  These seven verses are known as the Beatitudes, the first part of the famous Sermon of the Mount, one of Jesus' sermons which has many wise teachings inside. The Beatitudes list down several traits and personalities we should strive to have. Verse 3  The first verse of the beatitudes says that the "poor in spirit" will be blessed. Poor in spirit means that we know that we cannot do anything good ourselves. Only thru God and His assistance we can do good. Poor in spirit also means humble. Verse 4 This verse tells us "those who mourn" will be comforted. Mourning is basically being sad over something. If we are in a state of mourning, have hope. Verse 5 This verse tells us the "meek" will be blessed. Meekness is a condition of a person that submits to God rather than going our own way. God is much smarter and knowing, so submit to Him. Meekness is also humility and gentleness. Verse 6 Here, it...

1 Corinthians 13 -

Hello! Today's daily post is about 1 Corinthians 13: which is composed of one topic: Love is Indispensible.  It tells us love is important. If we are beautiful, talented, or intelligent, but have no love, we are nothing. It also tells us love is patient and kind. It never envies or boasts and is not easy to anger. True love shuns evil  and trusts, has hope, and has perseverance.  We need to have faith, hope, and love, and especially love.

1 Corinthians 12 - Daily Summary

It's really late, but here's the chapter for today: This chapter talks about various things, one of church is the Holy Spirit. It is about how humanity relies on Holy Spirit to do good and the Holy Spirit gives gifts, of knowledge, of faith, etc.  The second part is about how, when we are baptized, our Spirit forms one, united, physical body. When we are baptized, our body is one. But the church is thr body of Christ, so we must not defile it.

1 Corinthians 11 - Daily Sumary

Hello! One Corinthians 11 is today's topic. It tells us that men should not hide their heads when worshipping God (as their heads is the head of Christ), but women should cover her head in times of worship. This traditionn is often unpracticed today. The second part tells us to not defile the Lord's Supper and practice it correctly. When celebrating the Lord's Supper, do it with others, not private ones. Paul tells us to eat together and do it well and seriously, as breaking its tradition is a sin.

Sorry! I forgot to write it yesterday and this is getting repetitive, I hope I can be more consistent. But here is 1 Corinthians 9 and 10. In 1 Corinthians 9, Paul explains about apostleship and what is it. Apostles have regular human rights, but a humble and optimal  apostle should not use any of them nor boast, and they should not pursue worldly glories. It also talks about, how since Paul is a free person, he becomes like other people so he could communicate and preach to them. Paul also tells us to be disciplined.  1 Corinthians 10 has multiple topics,. The first being to learn from our history and our past successes and failures. For example, we can learn from the sins of Israel - disobedience and idolatry which made them be punished. So let us not fall into the same sin. The second one tells us that we should flee from idolatry. If we celebrate the Lord's Supper and drink from the cup of the Lord, of course we cannot drink from the cup of demons. The final topic te...
