Ephesians 4 - Daily Summary
Hello!
Ephesians 4 is the third last chapter in the book of Ephesians. Before we discuss the fourth chapter of the letter of Ephesians, let's have a quick revision of the topic we discussed yesterday - that being Ephesians 3.
Ephesians 3 has two portions: "God's Marvelous Plan for the Gentiles" and "A Prayer for the Ephesians". God has a marvelous plan for the Gentiles. He will unite Jews and Gentiles in Christ and rebeal to the Gentiles the mystery of Christ and received His grace.
Paul prays for the Ephesians in 3:14-21. In the twenty first and last verse of Ephesians 3 there is a closing to the prayer. Now in Ephesians 4 it speaks a bout unity abd maturity in the body of Christ. As prisoners and sevants of the Lord, we must live worthy of our calling.
Be humble, patient, and loving, and keep every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit. The Spirit bonds the believers with one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father, who is almighty. So we should keep this unity intact and strong.
We were all given grace. He gave us the apostles, prophets, evangelists, teachers, and pastors to ready us to reach unity and maturity. We will be mature and we will grow to become respectful to the mature body of Christ. We will no longer be influenced by deceit, cunning and craftiness.
Unity and Maturity will be in Christ. Maturity means we are knowing of God's Word, filled with Christ and be complete. We will be united and together to Christ.
The second part of Ephesians 4 are some instructions for our lives as Christians. We should not live as pagans do. We should not live like the Gentiles used to live like. We should avoid a lifestyle of impurity, greed, and separation from Godly life.
The way of life we learned from Christ is to repent and take off your old self, which was corrupted by sin, and to be made new and reborn. We should have a new attitude and self, and we will be sanctified. Put off falsehood and take on honesty. Do not be bitter, malicious, or easy to anger. Rather, be forgiving.
