2 Corinthians 8 - Daily Summary
Hello!
2 Corinthians 8 first talks about the zeal of the Macedonian churches (the churches in the province of Macedonia) because they were generous to collect a collection of money (see 1 Corinthians 16) though they were being presserured by persecution and hardship.
Paul wants and encourages the Corinthian churches to have the same generosity and wants to hear they have received even more grace of God. What we can also learn is that the Bible's many books are not wholly separate but also has connection. If you were to read 2 Corinthians 8, it would be much clearer by reading 1 Corinthians 16.
Paul wants and asks them to be generous not as a command but as a test of Corinthian wholeheartedness and sincerity. He wants to see their eagerness and their desire. Paul announces that the zealous Titus would receive their collection and distribute it.
