Galatians 4 - Daily Summary

 Hello!

Galatians 4 continues the previous chapter's point, so let's revise yesterday first. Galatians 3 tells us that one who belongs to Christ is a descendsnt of Abraham, and all of the believers, Gentiles of Jews, are united in Christ.

Galatians 4 says that all believers, rich and poor, are the same to God and God has made us an heir no matter of our background. From verse 8-20 Paul discusses about his concern for the Galatians. Paul says the Galatians were slaves to the gods they used to worship but now is God's child. Paul also wants the Galatians to be zealous but not to be zealous for the wrong purpose, because some are zealous to win them over.

Paul then says from verse 21 to 31 that the followers of God reminisce with the story of Hagar and Sarah. Abraham had two main sons, one born of a slave woman and one of a free woman. The two women figuratively represent two covenants. But those who are in Christ are like children of promise - like Isaac in the metaphor.
