Chapel Week #2 Grade 7 SKC

Heidelberg Catechism #2: Questions 1&2  Vik. Chrissie Martinez Wednesday, 30th of July (Note from Isaac: This chapel continues on last weeks'. Last week was an introduction on the Heidelberg Catechism. Basically, to recap: Heidelberg Catechism is a catechism, like a question and answer to answer theological questions. The Heidelberg Catechism was written by Zacharias Ursinus and edited by Caspar Olevianus and written in the mid-16th century. It is a very comforting and relieving catechism and is composed of 129 question) The first question of the Heidelberg Catechism is "What is our only relief in life or death?". Modern perspectives on this question might answer reliefs like food, entertainment, ganes, sleep, phone. The answer given by the catechism is based on Paul's letter to the Romans. In particular, the chapter 14:8, which follows: "If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord...

Journal Week 2 SKC

For an assignment The second week was the first week of learning and regular school. This week was fun and interesting. The lessons were mostly still introductions, so it was also easy. I did the diagnostic tests for Literacy and Numeration (literasi, numerasi). Honestly, I think the test time limit (2 hours for literasi) was too long, and it got boring to wait.  I was excited to find out about how classes were like, how the teachers were like, etc. Also, I felt happy about now being in middle school. I think I could and should have communicated more with my classmates during this week, so that I can adapt faster to the new environment. The school week felt very fast, just as it felt like Monday begun, it was already Wednesday.  This is my journal for the second week

Chapel SKC Grade 7 #1

Wednesday 23 July Chapel, SKC, Grade VII #1 By Roy Pangemanan Introduksi Katekismus Heidelberg/Introduction of Heidelberg Catechism A catechism is like a theological explanation usually in the format of Question and Answer and is oral teaching. There are many catechisms, one of them is the Heidelberg Catechism. Personally, I already heard about the name Heidelberg Cathechism once but never knew anythung about it until this Wednesday. Heidelberg is a city in Germany, but at the time it was in the Holy Roman Empire. (The speaker did not say that at the time it was under the Holy Roman Empire, but I added that, he only said that the government was different). The church had just undergone the Reformation and many wanted to know about the Bible, but still needed some direction or explanation. Thus, Frederick III, that governed the area, who was Reformed (Reformed = Sola Scriptura), who was an "elector", commissioned Zacharias Ursinus and Caspar Olevianus to make a catechism. The ...

MPLS SKC: Sessions Summary

MPLS Day 1&2 Session Summary Session One You are about to enter teenage times. As a teenager you are not a kid anymore and this time is cheerful, but can also be dark. What does the Bible say about this period? Proverbs say that teenagers can be easily misled and can become fools. So we teenagers need discipline and guidance with a rod and club to drive them, who are like sheep, away from straying off from the Bible and God. The other time when the Bible talk about the shepherds' rod is in Psalm 23, when David says the rod and club relieves us. How can it be relieving us when it is a painful process? Because we are being saved by God.  Session Two Do you know what is the vision of SKC? The vision is to shape Christian students in Christian values and in faith, knowledge, and responsibility. Responsibility is awareness to act, faith is the base of all things we see and the explanation for all things we do not, and knowledge is one of the goals of education.Visions are given by G...

SKC School Week #1: Journal

Hello! In Sekolah Kristen Calvin (Calvin Christian School), it is deeply encouraged to write a journal every week as part of the school programs. This is my reflection for the first week of Sekolah Kristen Calvin: Minggu pertama ini sangat menarik.
