Weekly Sunday Sermon - Judges

 Hello!

In GRII Pusat, I missed two weeks, last week being about the judges until Gideon. This is the summary of their surmo  concerning all the judges after.

There was a loop in how the Israelite people acted. They would worship false idols, then they would be judged, often by subjugation by another peoples, and then they would cry out to God, and God would answer through the judges, but then they would disobey again.

After Gideon, there were a two lesser discussed judges, Tola and Jair, twenty three and twenty two years. Interestingly, Jair had 30 children. Then Israel became disobedient and idolatrous, and the Ammonites took ocer, and Israel was in distress. This time, God did not let Israel be saved again because of the repetitive cycle of sin. God told them to cry out to their idols. The Israelites said that they have sinned and got rid of the foreign gods, so God saved Israel, and Jephthah was chosen as a leader, and he was a mighty warrior but was rejected by his half brothers because he was a son of prostitute and became the leader of a gang of scoundrels. Jephthah was chosen as the commander against the Ammonites and was victorious.

Then, he died and Ibzan, Elon, and Abdon succeeded him,. After Abdon is Samson, who is quite popular, and he was a Nazirite born devoted to God and was very strong because God was with him. Still, he was an egoistic and flawed person, and was a vengeful guy, he struck down 1000 Philistines not for any other reason but vengeance for his own cause. In the end, he revealed the secret behind his strength, and the Philistines captured him, though s tlast he died and killed many more Philistines inside their temple.

The main lesson here is that God chooses flawed people for His reasons/purposes, and he does use some people to save his people, Israel, but especially above all of these people is His own Son, and Himself, Jesus Christ, who is the eternal King, flawless and perfect unlike any humans, from the judges to the kings.
