Ezekiel 19-21 - Daily Summary

Hello! To keep  things different and new from the usual topic (about judgement etc), I will do thr three chapters in one and try to find new emphases.

Ezekiel 19 is a lament, especially about the sin of Israel's princes and the princes, "branches", are not fit as rulers. As we know from other books like Proverbs, fools make unfit rulers, and that they will be judged (verse 9). Ezekiel 20 is about God's judgement itself taking place, as they were being rebellious, disobedient, and practically ungrateful of what God had done, that is bringing them out of Egypt. We also often forget the graces of God and disobey, we violate the commands he has set.

Yet, in this chapter God also promises that Israel again will be renewed and sanctified, and this is explained with emphasis on how God will cleanse Israel in a harsh way, but then they will recognize Him. Ezekiel 21 then is about how Babylon is used as God's "sword of judgement", an instrument. Were the Babylonians sinful? Yes, but God used them to judge other sinful nations. This teaches that God is above human authorities. God uses people for his cause as instruments. We can be instruments of God in other ways, and we should be, because we are created to do so, that is to serve and glorify Him.
