Isaiah 4,5,6 - Daily Summary
Hello! We will do the next chapters of Isaiah: Isaiah 4,5 and 6.
Isaiah 4: 6 verses
This short chapter is about God's judgement. Though it says the wicked will be severely punished, it adds that the "branch of the Lord" (probably the righteous people) will be beautiful and glorious. Those who survive God's judgement will be washed of sin and will be protected. This short chapter is very encouraging.
Isaiah 5: 30 verses
Isaiah 5 has a more somber tone than its predecessor. However, it is another warning against us. God expresses his frustration within Isaiah 5 of Judah's distress and wickedness. In the same way, we will be punished if we go astray from the righteous path. The Lord then pronounces several woes ("woe" is a noun for sadness and sorrow. The Lord will punish alcoholics and gluttons (verse 11,12), the arrogant (verse 15), liars (verse 18), evildoers (verse 20) and fools (verse 21).
Isaiah 6: 13 verses
Isaiah 6 is about the commission and calling of the prophet Isaiah. He saw the Lord seated on a throne in a vision with angels above him. This vision was in the temple and the temple was overwhelmed with smoke and sound. Isaiah thought he was punished because he saw the eyes of the Lord, but God atoned him by touching his unclean lips. Isaiah then asked to become a prophet when the Lord asked whom to send. God said Isaiah would serve as prophet until "the cities lie ruined".
