Weekly Saturday Devotion - The Church (Source: SPIK Ecclesiology I)

Today there's a SPIK seminar (that being Seminar Pembinaan Iman Kristen), a 7-hour long seminar with multiple speakers that took place in GRII Messiah Cathedral. It is about the church and ecclesiology. Ecclesia is "church", and thus ecclesiology is the theology and philosophy about the church and its calling.

This SPIK focuses on how God chose the church before the world began. He chose the church to hold His glory. God predestined a group of people to do this task, as well as evangelize, have fellowship, and read the Scripture.

He not only chose us but also changed and is sanctifying us to be a Holy and perfect church. The seminar also talks about freedom of religion. God also loves the church. Each member of the Trinity (Father, Son, and Spirit) loves one another and loves the church. 

Religion and what church we go to is a very important matter. It is more than important than the selection of spouse, education or career.

Freedom of religion nowadays is freedom to choose whatever religion you want. But the Bible never says this. Instead, the Bible says a kind of freedom of religion that is a freedom from false gods. But how do we choose a church?

There are three principal criterions that are fundamental in assisting us with choosing a true church that is biblical. The first of these criterion is: true doctrine. What the church preaches and believes is very important. Make sure to verify its accuracy according to the Scriptures.

The second of which is the Sacraments, such as baptism and the communion. These Sacraments must be performed and done correctly, because these are, too, very important. The last of the three criterion is an initiative to discipline and rebuke. 

As a church chosen by God, we must focus on Him and hold His glory. We should suffer for Him because He suffered for us.

People like to say "Jesus is coming soon", and it's incorrect: Argument Series #1

 Currently, a lot of people has reacted to the tension between the United States and Iran by saying "The end times are soon". Not only do they say this because of the "war", but also because of technologies such as artificial intelligence and Neuralink. In this post I want to challenge this claim.
