Information about Philippians: Philippi is a city in modern day Greece on the northern Greek coast, near the Aegean Sea at its south. It was large and a relatively new city at that time, only about 400 years old. Paul visited the city in AD 49 during the second of his four missionary journeys (including the one to Rome).

Philippians 1 makes up almost a third of the book of Ephesians. It includes a greeting [a] (verse 1-2) that is always present in all of the letters, both the Pauline and General ones. Then in the third verse it starts a topic about thanksgiving. Philippians is a very cheerful and joyful letter. Philippi, which supported the missionary journeys of Paul, accepted the gospel. Paul is happy about that. We, too, should evangelize and.
Paul prays for the Philippians to advance in knowledge. Pray for one another and give thanks to one another [b]. Paul is actually writing this letter in prison and he is being persecuted for Christ. We should suffer for Christ if we can, because Christ suffered for us.
Rejoice because Christ is preached and be joyful as long Christ is exalted in our bodies. Live in godly lives and according to Christ's saving gospel. We should both believe in Him and also suffer for Him to live this way.
