2 Thessalonians 1 makes up a quarter of the book of Second Thessalonians. Two verses are the greetings (verse 1-2), and then it talks about thanksgiving and prayer, common themes in the beginnings of Paul's letters.
The authors are thankful to God because of the growing faith and love of the Thessalonians. They are being perseverant and faithful amidst persecution. We must follow the example of the Thessalonians - do not adhere to persecution and pressure (verse 4).
God will bless those who are suffering for Him under persecution for faith. God will give back what is good to the good and punish those who should be punished. God will punish the wicked and disobedient (verse 8). Be ready and be obedient, faithful, and endure persecution, so when he comes we can be glorified.
Constantly pray for others so they can be worthy of God's calling and be ready for the Judgement. Us ourselves should also try to be worthy and ready.
That's all, as 2 Thessalonians 1 is very short.
