1 Timothy 5 - Daily Summary
Hello!
1 Timothy 5 is the second last chapter of 1 Timothy and is mostly about certain social dynamics and the laws we should keep to maintain these social relationships well. First, let us review briefly the previous chapter to get a wider grasp.
1 Timothy 4 ends by giving a charge to give rules for the church positions, devote to the Scriptures, and be diligent and perseverant, and watch our lives. 1 Timothy 5 similarly gives some charges and rules for other relationships: particularly with widows and elders.
First, Paul tells us to calmly and softly rebuke an elder man, and treat him like a father. However, also treat younger men as brothers. The same goes with older women and younger women. We must treat others with absolute purity and godliness.
Paul tells us to give "proper recognition" to widows who are in need. However, a widow also raise her children/grandchildren (if she has) with Christian beliefs to please God. We actually need to evangelize to our family.
Widows should not be considered widows unless she is over 60 and was faithful to her husband and is godly. Younger widows should marry but also be careful and be godly, they should not follow Satan.
Next, elders are preferred people to be put as a church leader or director, and should be honored more. Elders should only be accused when two or three witmesses are against him, as elders tend to be wiser.
