Information about Thessalonica: Thessalonica is a city in modern day Greece, 300km north of Corinth, located in a region called Macedonia. It is the northernmost city that received a letter from Paul. He visited them in his second and  third missionary trip.

1 Thessalonians 1 itself is a very short chapter - only ten verses - one verse for the greetings [b] and the body begins at 1 Thessalonians 1:2. 1 Thessalonians 1 is about thanksgiving - the authors' thanksgiving [*) of the Thessalonians' faith. But when we evangelize, remember it is also through the assistance of the Holy Spirit we can convert others. [+] We should be thankful to God that others believe and are chosen. The chosen are imitators of the Lord [c], so be faithful and live a godly life. So do not serve idols, but depart from them, just like the Thessalonians. [d] [a] .
