Romans 11-12 - Daily Post
Hello!
Romans 11, though includes various subtopics, continues Romans 9&10's topic about God's chosen people Israel. It starts with the question of "Did God reject Israel?" And the answer to this inquiry, is, no, He did not. Paul, a descendant of Abraham was chosen by God. Though some and many Israelites have gone astray, God has chosen His elect.
Israel, though hard of hard and sometimes rejecting of God, will still be saved by a deliverer, who will comd from Zion - Jesus. Israel have been hardened of heart until the Gentile nations have all heard the Gospel.
There's a four-verse doxology in the end. Romans 12 has many topics inside Romans 12. Romans 12:1-2 is encouraging us to offer our bodies to God as a sacrifice in an act of worship, as God did that to us. Do not join the patterns of the world but be reborn.
Verse 3-8 tells us to be humble, not arrogant. The Church forms one body in Christ so we should teach, encourage, lead, and show mercy, and not boast. Verse 9-21 is a list of advice about love in action:
Verse 9: Be sincere in love and shun evil but accept the good.
Verse 10: Be devoted to others in love and honor others more than yourself.
Verse 11: Be zealous and always serve the Lord.
Verse 12: Be joyful and patient in times of affliction and hope.
Verse 13: Show hospitality to one another and take care of those in need.
Verse 14: Do not hate those who attack you, but bless them.
Verse 15: Understand people and act with them accordingly to their condition.
Verse 16: Live in harmony, not in pride.
Verse 17: Do not be vengeful.
Verse 18: Live in peace.
Verse 19,21: Do not take revenge, God will show his wrath later.
Verse 20: Instead, feed and hydrate your enemy and take care of your persecutor.
