Ecclesiastes 1 - Walkthrough

Hello! Hello! Today is the first day were're talking about the book of Ecclesiastes. Today will be Ecclesiastes 1 and by 15 Sep, ideally, we would finish this series.

Ecclesiastes 1

Verse 1: The first verse of Ecclesiastes 1 is an inscription or title of Ecclesiastes. It speaks about how Solomon wrote it (it did not say the word Solomon, but "Teacher, son of David, and King in Jerusalem" makes us able to know this.

Verse 2: Verse 2 says "everything is meaningless", even "utterly meaningless.". This doesn't mean that literally everything we do is meaningless, but it rather tells us more like that God is more meaningful and should be prioritized over everything else.

Verse 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9,10, 11: These verses show us all our worldly items, riches, and pleasures ("things under the sun" is used to describe said pleasures, and is a figurative language phrase for God's creation) are temporary, we only continue in this world for one generation.

Verse 12,13,14, 15, 16, 17, 18: Solomon then continues to another topic. He sets up an example for himself, saying that in his younger years, he was trying to find and know all the things he could on earth. But he had seen that pursuit is futile. Solomon became very wise after this, but with such great wisdom, but it would later prove to become sorrow. This doesn't mean we shouldn't be wise, but that a lot of wisdom comes a lot of grief and sadness.

That's all for today! Thank you for reading.

Next day: Ecclesiastes 2

“Meaningless! Meaningless!”
    says the Teacher.
“Utterly meaningless!
Everything is meaningless.” - Ecclesiastes 1:2
