Psalms 56-60: Daily Summary
Hello! Today's psalmistic post is covering: Psalms 56 to 60: our twelfth episode concerning the Book of Psalms.
Psalms 56 - Of David.
This psalm was for the director of music, Asaph, and was written when the Phillistines caught him at Gath. This is a psalm like other psalms of plead, a psalm where David pleads the Lord to deliver rhim from the hands of his wicked enemies, but David knows the Lord will deliver him because of His justice.
Psalms 57 - Of David.
This psalm was for the director of music, Asaph, and was written when he fled from Saul and hid in a cave. This is similar to Psalms 56, expressing how he takes refuge in the Lord God because He vindicates him. David praises the Lord God too at the end.
Psalms 58 - Of David.
This psalm is for the Director of Music, Asaph, and is classified as a "miktam" psalm. This psalm expeesses our sin and those of the wicked. The Lord brings calamity to them, He sets free their enemies and curse their path with thorns. The righteous will not be swept away, for the Lord loves them.
Psalms 59 - Of David.
This psalm is for the director of music and is classified as a miktam. This is also a psalm of plead as it was written when Saul sent soldiers to kill David. David cries to his, and our, God as evil conspirators are against him, but the Lord is just and will judge the wicked.
Psalms 60 - Of David.
This psalm was when he defeated the Edomites (descendants of Esau) and is a miktam, and is too for the director of music. This is a psalm of thankfulness for the Lord's blessings on David and his kingdom, for He saved him and Israel in battle. David knows it was not his victory but the Lord's.
That's all! Thank you for reading!
