Psalms 126-130 - Daily Summary

Hello! Today's Psalmistic Episode is Episode 26 - and that is, Psalms 126 all the way to Psalms 130. So let's begin in a summary of five amazing songs of praise.

Psalms 126 - possibly David, Ezra, unsure.

This is a thankfulness psalm asking the Lord to restore the Israelites' fortunes - the Promised Land they have been exiled from. But the author has thanked the Lord for His restoration. The author praises the Lord too.

Psalms 127 - Of Solomon.

This is a psalm reminding us of one truth about God: He helps us, and without Him we are nothing.  Solomon, who erected the Temple of the Lord, knows that without the Lord Himself, His construction could not be successful and would be vanity.

Psalms 128 - Anonymous.

This psalm is about how the wise, who are obedient to God, fears the Lord, and loves Him, will prosper and enjoy the rewards of their actions and they will be blessed by the Lord, for they are faithful to Him. So be wise and obedient.

Psalms 129 - Of Anonymous Origin.

This psalm is about Israel and Zion, but we can metaphorize that Israel is the chosen people of God who fear him, not necessarily Israelites. The wise in this psalm will be attacked, but the Lord blesses them and thir enemies will be destroyed.

Psalms 130 - Of David.

Possibly written when David was being chased by Saul. This psalm is a psalm of mercy and forgiveness, and a petition to the Lord to hear and answer David's prayer. David knows that the Lord is a redeeming God, however, who has unfailing love.

That's all for today! Next Episode is Episode 27 : Psalms 131-135. And the highlighted verse is Psalms 130:7:

Israel, put your hope in the Lord,
for with the Lord is unfailing love
and with him is full redemption. - King David, the Book of Psalms
