Weekly Sunday Sermon - The Book of Jude
Hello all! Today, in my sunday school the topic is Jude (we are covering the NT books, and after Revelation the OT books). This is a summary of today's Jude lesson.
Subtopic 1 - Theme of Jude
Jude was written by Jude, who was the brother of James, who was the brother of Jesus. Jude wrote this to Christians everywhere. The purpose of this letter was to warn them against false teachers and apostates among their community, but Jude originally wanted to make it a more hopeful letter about salvation, but the Holy Spirit encouraged him to warn them instead.
Subtopic 2 - Apostates and Ungodly People
Jude warned all the churches that there werre ungodly people among them, those who reject the Word of God and deny the sayings uttered by Jesus, and those who corrupt others. These people are called apostates.
He told the churches to keep the truth and do not fall to the ways of false teachers, for false teachers will be destroyed as they rebelled against God. We can differentiate false teachers by their lives and actions.
Subtopic 3 - Perseverance and Holding on to the Truth
Jude commends us to keep praying with the Holy Spirit and reading the Bible, so we may not fall into said false teachers, and save others from false teaching.
That is all! Jude is only 25 verses, so its quite short.
