Proverbs 3 - Walkthrough
This is the third blog on the Proverbial Daily Series, which has been pauses previously because of BCN, so I couldn't update it. Today I resume the series with the third proverb: Proverbs 3 summarized. Also, I will add a new feature to each blog: I will give a highlighted verse straight from the real source that I think is the most important and captures the most points.
Proverbs 3, like Proverbs 2, is all under one topic: named Wisdom Bestows Well-Being. Somewhat similar to Proverbs 2 - it emphasizes the benefits of wisdom. Let's go through the chapter.
Solomon, third king of Israel and son of King David wrote this chapter. The first stanza is about to remember teaching and wisdom you learned and keep them, because they will reward you. He says that if you remember and use wise teaching, you will win favor in the sight of both God and man.
The second stanza teaches us about trusting God and not relying on yourself. The second stanza is quite short. The third one compliments the second one, and has similar ideas: Do not be wise in your own eyes. The fourth stanza further bolsters the second and third, stating that we should honor the Lord and rewards will come to you.
The fifth stanza returns the idea back to the first stanza, by saying not to despise Lord's discpline and accept his rebuke. The sixth stanza further bolsters the general idea of this proverb by Solomon: People who find wisdom and gain understanding will be blessed in many various ways. The seventh stanza tells us that the world is created by God with his wisdom.
The eighth stanza tells us again that we should always consider the wise choice and understanding choice, and you will be rewarded. The ninth stanza tells us not to harm anyone else in any way, or accuse them. The tenth stanza, extremely short, two lines long tells us not to envy the violent and follow them (this part compliments Psalms 73). The eleventh, final stanza says that the Lord dislikes the perverse and blesses rhe upright.
And that's all of Proverbs 3. The overall message is that wisdom and understanding will bless you. Here's the special verse from this chapter:
"Blessed are those who find wisdom, and who gain understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold.".
(Proverbs 3:13-14)
That's the daily proverb of today. Goodbye, see you tommorow for:
